Volumetric weight calculator

Enter the parcel dimensions, measured weight and the divisor specified by the courier. The calculator compares volumetric and actual weight and shows the higher figure.

Volumetric weight calculator

Enter the dimensions of the closed parcel. The 5,000 divisor is an example only: replace it with the value specified for your shipping service.

Result
Volumetric weight
0.7 kg
Actual weight
1.5 kg
Higher of the two
1.5 kg

This result is for information only: the rate band, rounding rules and surcharges depend on the courier's price list and terms.

How to read the result

Actual weight is the figure measured on a scale. Volumetric weight estimates the space occupied by the parcel.

The higher of the two is the reference weight normally used to identify the rate band. Rounding, weight brackets and surcharges always depend on the courier’s terms.

Before calculating

  • Measure the closed parcel at its maximum external points.
  • Use centimetres for all three dimensions.
  • Enter the actual weight measured on a scale.
  • Check the divisor in the price list or contract for the shipping service.
